My wife and I had dinner here in early January around 7:15 pm. We were stunned that on a Tuesday night the place was packed. We soon discovered why. The ambiance here is nice, particularly in the Library room where we managed to get a table near the windows. Although there are plenty of good choices if you want steak, the menu also has lots of other dishes. This is one of the nicest menus I've seen in a steakhouse, or for that matter in any restaurant. There is a large wine list, and we were pleasantly surprised not only to find a bottle of our favorite Sancerre, but also at a very reasonable price. The complimentary bread was hot and delicious. The chilled shrimp and crab cake appetizers were wonderful. The salad we ordered was very tasty and large enough for us to share. The Chilean sea bass that we each ordered for dinner was amazing. The side order of spinach could have easily fed four people, and we took some of it home. The chocolate cake for dessert was definitely the largest slice we have ever received in any restaurant. It was absolutely delicious, and was nice to have with the double espresso and mint tea we ordered. Kudos to our server Athena, who regularly checked on us and made sure all the courses were spaced just right. She was very friendly and helpful, as were the rest of the staff who regularly filled our water glasses without having to be asked. Although the restaurant was very busy, acoustics were excellent so it wasn't noisy at all. My wife and I enjoyed a very relaxing and romantic dinner. This is not an inexpensive restaurant, but we definitely felt we got good value for our money. Portions are large, and we wound up taking part of our dinner home. We are adding this to our list of favorite restaurants and plan to start coming regularly. Highly recommend this place.
Rails offers multiple dining environments. Each level or area has a distinct vibe and there are slight variations in the drink menus as well. Service is really good, with clear item descriptions, pairing recommendations, and portion sizing choices. It is hard to leave room for dessert but the peach bread pudding was especially tasty.
A very good steak house in NJ. The decor is great, the food was great. Our was waiter was fine but not great. NYC prices, but the quality of the food supports it. Cowboy ribeye was delicious, couldn't finish the 10 layer chocolate cake cause I was so full. The place is definitely suited to large tables and crowds, which makes sense, and the whole restaurant is loud and lively and fun (at least at dinner time). Solid experience, worth a trip.
This was our second time at Rails. We love it. We were here for my husband’s birthday. Our waiter was Nick, he was very pleasant and knowledgeable. The food is amazing as always. We traveled over two hours for dinner, that’s how much we liked it.
This was our first time visiting this amazing steakhouse, and it certainly won’t be our last! From the moment we walked in, the ambience was beautifully set, complete with an outdoor fire creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant was packed, which is always a great sign of quality food and an in-demand dining experience. The service was absolutely top-notch. Our drinks were consistently refilled without us having to ask, whether it was water or a cocktail. Despite how busy it was, we never felt rushed. The staff allowed us to enjoy our appetizers at our own pace before taking our main course order, offering insightful recommendations that enhanced our experience. Now, onto the food—simply phenomenal. My petite filet mignon was like butter, perfectly cooked to a tender medium rare. The homemade cheese pasta with smoked bacon and guava cheese was rich and flavorful, and the truffle fries were a decadent treat. We also tried the fig pizza, which was an unexpected delight—the flavors blended so well, making it a must-try. To top it all off, the carrot cake was hands down the best I’ve ever had. As we were leaving, the staff checked in to make sure we had a great experience, and we couldn’t help but rave about our meal to the manager. The level of service, quality of food, and overall atmosphere make this steakhouse a true gem. If you’re looking for an exceptional dining experience, I highly recommend it—you won’t be disappointed
